i am a print maker and a sculptor, i have lived and worked in walthamstow in north east london for the past thirty years. for most of my life have drawn, modeled and made things whilst supporting myself as a telephone engineer, print worker, gardener and odd job man. always in my union, always a socialist.

the influences on my my work are many, from guyasamin, romero and rivera in south america, hartfield, picssao, gargallo in europe and brangwyn, epstien and klein in the uk, with many others in between. all moderated with a philosophy that art should not just be decorative, it should try to help us find out who we are and what we are doing to each other and the world we live in, it should engage with life.

why stolen image? the name reflects the idea that when you take some ones photograph or draw their image you steal their soul. But more than that, i want to question who owns an image anyway. we mix up the images that life throws at us, create a "new" image and claim property rights over it. why we do that is conditioned by the way we are brought up, our education, social relations, etc, inseparable from the society we come from. too much is made of individualism and not enough is made of the social basis of creativity.
